Press Alt+Shift and Cursor up or down to select range of lines to be edited, use cursor left or right without Alt+Shift to select columns. Press ESC to leave block editing

As with Linux, but use Cmd instead of Alt.

I prefer the plugin ftp-remote-edit by h3imdall(On Github) in mode sftp with ssh key authorization. It's a pitty you can't save your config without a password.
